Travelling in Kyrenia by Car

Car rental in Kyrenia is cheap and many companies offer excellent deals such as airport and villa delivery. You can also receive some excellent reductions when you book your rental car online. It is recommended that you arrange your car hire in advance especially if you wish to pick your car up from the airport.

In order to hire a car there are a few requirements. You must be over 25 and you need to have a valid driving licence from your own country or an international driving licence. Driving in Kyrenia and Northern Cyprus is the same as the UK with traffic moving on the left hand side. The traffic signs are international and the use of front seatbelts is compulsory. Children under the age of five are not permitted to travel in the front of the car and the use of a mobile phone is also prohibited unless hands free.

Rates on Cyprus are very reasonable with no additional charges for additional drivers. Vehicles are in excellent condition and can be rented from around 12/ day inclusive. We will be happy to recommend a Hire company to suit your needs. Please feel free to enquire when booking.

Public Transport in Kyrenia

If you are planning a holiday in Kyrenia, you will no doubt be wondering about how to get around. Public transportation in Kyrenia consists of busses and mini busses that run daily between all the towns and many of the larger villages. Bus fares are very cheap and a great way to mix with the locals, and of course get to see how they really live.

There is one downside to using the public buses, and this is that they may not be on time. Bus departures are very regular between the big and smaller towns especially during the day but it is worth noting that these times are not fixed. After 5pm public transport becomes less frequent and this is also true at weekends.

Another method of transportation is by service taxi or dolmus as they are known locally. They travel between all the local towns and villages also and are extremely reasonable. There are also regular taxis but it is advisable to discuss the price before setting out on your journey
